Search Colfax County Traffic Court Records
New Mexico Case Lookup is the broad public starting point for Colfax County traffic court records filed in District, Magistrate, or Municipal Court. The public tool is free after the user accepts the court disclaimer, and it supports name, case number, and DWI search routes. For traffic records, the useful filters are the driver's name, driver's license information, date of birth, court type, Colfax court location, case category if known, and filing or hearing date range.
The New Mexico Case Lookup site does not provide document images. It is best for confirming case metadata, hearing dates, court location, and case identifiers. For documents, certified copies, older court records, or correction questions, use the clerk counter at the court where the citation was filed, registered re:SearchNM access if eligible, or the New Mexico Courts IPRA request process.
The official MVD page on New Mexico traffic tickets explains when a ticket may be paid as a penalty assessment and when court contact is needed.
- Read the citation first and identify the court, appearance language, citation number, and due date.
- Use Case Lookup for Magistrate, Municipal, or DWI case metadata when the citation is filed as a court case.
- For Raton Municipal Court tickets, use the payment link from the official Raton page or call the payment number listed there.
- For Magistrate Court citations, use Odyssey Public Access for fine and fee payment when available, then verify any non-financial court obligations.
- Request documents or certified copies from the court that holds the case file, not from the County Clerk land-record portal.
Colfax County Traffic Court Venues
Traffic cases in Colfax County are split by court and location. Magistrate Court hears DWI/DUI and other traffic violations, plus felony preliminary proceedings when a traffic stop leads to a serious criminal charge. Municipal Court handles petty misdemeanors, traffic violations, DWI/DUI, and municipal ordinance violations inside the city court's jurisdiction. District Court is not the routine ticket court, but it can become involved when a criminal traffic case, appeal, or felony prosecution belongs there.
The New Mexico Municipal Courts contact list identifies Raton Municipal Court and Springer Municipal Court as the local municipal venues. The Eighth Judicial District contact page identifies the Colfax Magistrate Court locations used for Raton and Springer traffic matters.

Raton Traffic Ticket Payment
Raton Municipal Court is the one local court with a clearly documented traffic-ticket payment channel in the research. The official Raton page says court dates are Wednesday and Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., juvenile sessions are Wednesday at 4:00 p.m., and juveniles must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. It also says traffic tickets can be paid online with a credit or debit card or by calling 1-800-701-8560.
The Raton Municipal Court page links to the payment service for City of Raton Municipal Court.
The Raton nCourt payment page identifies City of Raton Municipal Court, Judge Christine Piancino, the court address, and the local phone number.
Colfax Traffic Citation Search Fields
Traffic search fields depend on the system used. Case Lookup is best when the user has a name, date of birth, driver's license, court type, or hearing date. Raton's online payment route is more citation-centered. A court clerk can often search by citation number, case number, name, and date, but documents or certified copies must still come from the filing court.

What Colfax Traffic Records Show
A Colfax County traffic court record is a court case or citation file. It can show the citation, court date, traffic charge, plea, disposition, fine, fee, compliance term, warrant or failure-to-appear status, and court location. It may also show DWI details if the traffic matter is charged as a DWI case. Case Lookup may show public metadata, while full documents are requested through the court or accessed through re:SearchNM by users with the right profile.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Citation or case number | The identifier used by the court or payment system. |
| Court location | Raton Municipal, Springer Municipal, Raton Magistrate, Springer Magistrate, or District Court if applicable. |
| Charge or violation | The traffic offense, DWI/DUI charge, ordinance, or related statute description. |
| Hearing date | The scheduled appearance or hearing date, if posted. |
| Disposition | Outcome such as paid, dismissed, guilty, not guilty, amended, or other court action when public. |
| Financial obligation | Fine or fee information when available through Odyssey Public Access or the court. |
Pay or Contest Colfax Traffic Tickets
A penalty-assessment citation is different from a citation that requires court appearance. New Mexico MVD says that if the "Penalty Assessment" box is checked, payment must be made by one of the options on the ticket. Payment options may include mail, in-person payment, or phone credit-card payment where allowed. If the ticket says court appearance, contact the listed court before treating it as a payable fine.
Odyssey Public Access can support electronic payment of fines and fees, but it warns that payment resolves only financial obligations. Active warrants, compliance terms, proof requirements, classes, or other court-ordered conditions must be checked with the court. That warning matters for Colfax County traffic court records because a missed appearance may create a bench warrant even when money is later paid.
Note: Keep a receipt and confirm with the court when a citation has any warrant, court appearance, or compliance language.
Court Record vs Driver Record
The Colfax County traffic court record and the state driver-history record are separate files. The court file is kept by Raton Municipal Court, Springer Municipal Court, Colfax Magistrate Court, or another court of filing. The MVD driver record is a state license record. It can show driver-history information from the Motor Vehicle Division and may require its own identity or license data.
The official MVD online driver-history service provides three-year non-certified state driver-history records.
| Record Type | Source | What It Shows | How to Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Court traffic case | Municipal, Magistrate, or District Court | Citation, case number, court date, plea, disposition, fine, warrant or compliance status | Case Lookup, municipal payment service, court clerk, IPRA, or re:SearchNM |
| State driver history | New Mexico MVD | Three-year driver-history data and license-related official MVD information | MVD online driver-history service or MVD record request |
MVD Driver Data Access
MVD record access can matter after a Colfax County traffic citation because the court result and driver record do not always update or display in the same place. The online driver-history service says it provides copies of the official state driver record for the past three years. If no record is found, the MVD page tells users to contact MVD to make sure the Social Security number is on file. The research also found a separate subscriber driver-history option with a higher per-search amount.
The MVD page on driver and vehicle data access describes immediate online driver-record access and MVD public-record channels.
The MVD also has a page to purchase a driver record through official state channels.
Colfax County DWI Records
DWI and DUI records can appear in Municipal Court, Magistrate Court, or District Court depending on the charge and case path. Magistrate Court handles DWI/DUI and other traffic violations, while Municipal Court handles DWI/DUI and traffic violations within its jurisdiction. A felony-level or appealed criminal traffic matter may move into District Court. For full DWI case outcomes, pleas, and sentencing, the broader Colfax County criminal court records file is the better source.
Colfax County also has a DWI/UAD Prevention Program that focuses on prevention, screening and tracking, treatment, offender compliance, coordination, evaluation, and planning. The program is not a court-record database, but it is part of the local traffic and DWI record ecosystem.
Colfax Traffic Record Fees
The research did not locate a single local fee table for every traffic record copy. Use the court of filing for court-copy costs and the MVD for driver-history fees. The County Clerk fee schedule does not control traffic case files, but it does show county copy pricing for records that the Clerk maintains. For court case copies, call the Raton or Springer court before sending payment.
| Item | Amount or Channel |
