Court and public records in Colfax County, New Mexico are divided among the Eighth Judicial District Court, Magistrate Courts, Municipal Courts, the Colfax County Clerk, the Probate Judge, the Sheriff's Office, the detention center, and state agencies. Why We Built This Site

New Mexico gives the public broad access to many government records, but Colfax County records are not held in one place. District Court case files are maintained by the court where filed. Magistrate and Municipal Court records follow their own lower-court routes. The elected County Clerk handles recorded documents, marriage licenses, probate files held by the clerk, county commission records, and related public records. The Sheriff and Vigil-Maldonado Detention Center hold law-enforcement and custody information.
